Tell us about your journey as a professional makeup artist and/or hairstylist in Los Angeles.
A: My Journey as a professional makeup artist started when college was not in my path. True story, I remember having a break in between my classes and falling asleep on the college campus benches. I might have partied the night before ( wink wink). I woke up scared and realized I had missed my classes. That very same day I told my mom “ I don’t think college is for me, I want to do makeup.” I remember my mom being super supportive, and the very next day, she went with me to enroll in Makeup Designory, a school in Burbank Ca. I’ve been in the industry since 2007. You can do the math ( I just aged myself, haha!)
What types of beauty services do you specialize in?
A: I specialize in Bridal, special events, soft glam, but not limited to. I love all things beauty. I also do facials/brow laminations and lash lifts.
How would you describe your signature hair and/or makeup style when working with brides?
A: I would describe my signature look as soft, romantic, flirty & playful. What can I say, you are saying “ I do “ to the love of your life. My pro tip would be, look at your features you admire them most, and let that be your guide. Enhance those features.
What do you love most about working with brides and wedding parties in the Los Angeles area?
A: What I love most working with Brides and wedding parties would be everyone has different styles and preferences. You never know what you are walking into but all you know if that you were special enough to be party of their big day. They chose me and it’s such a rewarding feeling.
What advice would you give to brides when choosing a wedding hair and makeup artist in Los Angeles?
A: Advice I would give to brides searching for their wedding hair and makeup artist make this a priority and get a trial. Bond with your artist and be honest on what you like and dislike. You will not hurt the artist's feelings you will only make the big day a more pleasant and confident experience.
What bridal beauty trends are you currently loving for modern or LA-based weddings?
A: This is a great question. I’m not big on trends, I like to curate and collab with my clients in what they feel the most beautiful. But if I was going to pick a look for myself I’m definitely loving a clean eye look with a natural lifted lash, laminated brows, and a big bouncy blowout curl moment. I love Movement.
Can you walk us through what a typical wedding day looks like for you as a Luna Belle Beauty artist?
A: A typical wedding day looks like an early call time. 1st stop coffee. That’s the important part. Arrival at bridal suite, unpack and set up 15-20 mins before start time. Look over the schedule and make sure the first person is in my chair at their time slot. Usually, it’s a smooth day when you are organized, but sometimes, if we go off track, we just navigate through it.

Tell us about your journey as a professional makeup artist in Los Angeles.
A: I’m Wendy Urena, and I’ve been a professional makeup artist in Los Angeles for over 18 years. My love for makeup started when I was a little girl I was always fascinated by beauty, self-expression, and how makeup could enhance confidence. As I got older, I knew this wasn’t just a hobby, but something I truly wanted to pursue as a career. I went to makeup school, became a certified makeup artist, and never looked back. Over the years, my journey has expanded beyond makeup into skincare, wellness, and energy work, allowing me to create a more holistic experience for my clients.
What types of beauty services do you specialize in?
A: I specialize in soft glam makeup, bridal makeup, and special event beauty. My approach is all about enhancing natural beauty rather than masking it. I love creating looks that feel timeless, polished, and effortless, especially for brides who want to look like the best version of themselves on their wedding day.
How would you describe your signature hair and/or makeup style when working with brides?
A: My signature bridal style is a natural, classic bride. I focus on glowing skin, soft definition, and makeup that photographs beautifully while still feeling comfortable and true to who the bride is. I want my brides to feel confident, radiant, and like themselves, just elevated.
What do you love most about working with brides and wedding parties in the Los Angeles area?
A: I absolutely love weddings. There’s something so magical about them, they’re filled with love, emotion, and unforgettable memories. Being part of such an important day is truly an honor. I also love bringing a sense of calm and grounding energy into the space. I often incorporate Reiki and wellness elements into my services, which helps brides feel relaxed, present, and supported during such an emotional and exciting day.
What advice would you give to brides when choosing a wedding hair and makeup artist in Los Angeles?
A: My biggest advice is to choose someone you feel comfortable with. Your wedding day is deeply personal, and the last thing you want is to feel uneasy or not like yourself. Make sure your artist listens to you, understands your vision, and creates a space where you feel relaxed and confident.
What bridal beauty trends are you currently loving for modern or LA-based weddings?
A: I’m really loving soft, glowing skin, natural glam makeup, and effortless beauty that feels timeless rather than trendy. Brides are embracing their natural features, opting for fresh complexions, soft eyes, and lips that feel wearable and romantic. Skincare-focused prep and wellness-inspired beauty are also becoming more popular, which I love.
Can you walk us through what a typical wedding day looks like for you as a Luna Belle Beauty artist?
A: A typical wedding day starts long before the actual wedding day. We’ve already had a trial, discussed inspiration, colors, skin prep, and overall vision, so everything feels organized and intentional. On the wedding day, I arrive prepared and ready to create a calm, positive environment. My goal is to make the experience smooth, relaxing, and enjoyable for the bride and her bridal party, so they can truly soak in every moment of the day.
